Our story

Bozeman Therapy & Counseling was founded by Julie Menanno, LMFT, LCPC, to bring attachment-based, emotionally focused care to couples, individuals, and families in Montana. What began with a deep belief in the power of secure relationships has grown into a team of trained clinicians who share that same foundation. Today, we provide compassionate, relationship-centered therapy from our office in downtown Bozeman and online across the state.

We believe lasting change happens in the context of safe, supportive relationships.

Our philosophy

We believe that human beings are wired for connection, and that much of our emotional pain, whether it shows up as conflict, anxiety, disconnection, or self-doubt, is rooted in the attachment relationships that shape us. When people feel emotionally safe and securely connected, they are far more able to heal, grow, and thrive. This understanding sits at the heart of everything we do, and it is what our team helps clients build:

  • Stronger, more secure relationships
  • Better communication and repair after conflict
  • Relief from anxiety, depression, and overwhelm
  • A kinder, steadier relationship with themselves
  • Healing from trauma, grief, and life transitions

Our approach

Our work is grounded in attachment science and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), one of the most well-researched, effective approaches to relationship and emotional healing. Rather than focusing only on surface behaviors or quick fixes, we help people understand the emotional patterns underneath their struggles and create lasting change. Depending on each client's needs, our clinicians also draw on related approaches such as EFiT, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and psychodynamic and trauma-informed care.

Why clients choose us

Clients come to us for care that is warm, skilled, and genuinely relational. Our clinicians are trained in evidence-based, attachment-focused methods and committed to ongoing learning. We offer both in-person sessions in Bozeman and secure telehealth throughout Montana, so quality care is accessible wherever you live. Most of all, people stay because they feel understood here.
