About Julie

Hi, I'm Julie Menanno, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), and the founder of Bozeman Therapy & Counseling. I built this practice around a deep belief in the power of secure relationships, bringing attachment-based Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to couples, individuals, and families across Montana.

Why attachment matters

Julie's work centers on helping people understand the emotional patterns that shape their closest relationships. Most couples do not struggle because they have run out of love. They struggle because unmet attachment needs pull them into the same cycle of criticism, withdrawal, and shutdown. Naming that cycle, and understanding what each partner is protecting underneath it, is where lasting change begins.

Couples therapy and EFT

Using Emotionally Focused Therapy, Julie helps couples identify the negative cycle driving their conflict, reach the softer emotions sitting underneath it, and rebuild the emotional safety that makes closeness possible again. The same attachment framework guides her work with individuals examining how early experiences shape adult relationships, and with families working to reconnect after years of distance or conflict.

Secure Love and The Secure Relationship

Julie is the author of Secure Love, which translates attachment theory into plain, practical language: how childhood experiences shape adult attachment style, why couples fall into the same negative cycle of criticism, withdrawal, and shutdown, and what concrete steps repair it. She also hosts the Secure Love Podcast and shares attachment education with a wide online audience as The Secure Relationship.

Julie's therapeutic approach

Julie integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), and attachment-based therapy for families. Her style is warm, direct, and structured. She names what is happening between partners in the room, slows the moment down, and helps each person say the thing sitting underneath the argument.

Leading the practice

Under Julie's leadership, Bozeman Therapy & Counseling has grown into a team of trained clinicians who share the same attachment-based foundation, offering compassionate, relationship-centered care from downtown Bozeman and online across the state. Julie sets the clinical direction for the team and continues to see couples herself.
